Indian cricket is blessed with solid talent depth currently. All the players who have made their debuts in the last couple of years have excelled. They have taken to International cricket as fish takes to water. These bunch of Indian cricketers have looked completely at home despite being newcomers. But there were few cricketers who made their Indian debut but disappeared soon after. Here is Indian Players Who Disappeared After Playing 1 Game.
Indian Players Who Disappeared After Playing 1 Game
#4 Mayank Markande
Mayank Markande was one of the promising finds of IPL 2018. He picked up 3 wickets in his debut IPL game. Playing for Mumbai Indians he picked up a 3-wicket haul against Chennai Super Kings. Markande kept building on this performance and had a dream season. He soon earned an India call-up in 2019. Mayank made his debut against Australia. He conceded 31 runs without picking a wicket. He has since then fallen off the radar. A comeback is nowhere on the cards for now.
#3 Iqbal Siddiqui
Iqbal Siddiqui was known to be a fine all-rounder. He made his debut against England at Mohali. Iqbal’s strength was his pace and his ability to move the ball both off the pitch and in the air. Siddiqui grabbed scalped Graeme Thorpe as his debut wicket. To add to this, in the first innings Iqbal batting at number 10 scored 24 runs. Unfortunately, after that game, Siddiqui never further managed to play for India again.
#2 Sreenath Aravind
Sreenath Aravind was one of the RCB’s constants in the IPL. He was a proven performer in the domestic circuit too. Aravind had a stellar maiden IPL season in 2011 picking 21 wickets in 13 matches. He soon earned an India call up for a home series against England. But an injury prevented him from making his debut. He made his debut 4 years later against South Africa. Proteas took him to the cleaners smashing 44 runs in 3.4 overs. He never played a game again.
#1 Faiz Fazal
Faiz Fazal is a domestic veteran. He has played 125 domestic games scoring 8404 runs averaging 41.4. Fazal has played 100 List-A games scoring 3242 runs. He kept piling on the runs season after season. But it took an eternity for the selectors to recognise his efforts. Fazal was selected for India’s tour to Zimbabwe. He made his ODI debut in 2016. Fazal to his credit scored a fine half-century (55*). But unfortunately, that’s the only game he has ever played for the country.
