Ravichandran Ashwin’s warning to Aaron Finch:
The outstanding off-spinner of India and Delhi Capital, Ravichandran Ashwin says that sparing Aaron Finch in the match between DC and RCB was his first and final warning to the batsman backing up so far at the end of non-striker, and he should not be blamed further in case he runs them out in further matches.
Aaron Finch, the opening batsman of Royal Challengers Bangalore was caught short of the pitch when the batsman backed up so far in the Monday’s match of the 2020 IPL but R Ashwin didn’t dislodge the bails and just gave him a warning.
Ashwin’s post:
The Indian off-spinner has posted a warning message on his Twitter account.
Ashwin tweeted “Let’s make it very clear!! First and last warning for 2020. I am making it official and later don’t blame me. @RickyPonting #runout #nonstriker @AaronFinch5 and I are good friends btw #IPL2020.”
During the 2019 IPL, when R Ashwin had run out Jos Buttler, he had to face controversy. Many players criticized Ashwin for not displaying the sportsman’s spirit.
The issue became very big before the starting of 2020 IPL, when Ricky Ponting, head coach of Delhi Capitals said that he would not permit Ashwin to run out a batsman in this way after the off-spinner joined DC from KXIP in 2019.
On this issue, Ponting and Ashwin discussed in the UAE. When R Ashwin let Aaron Finch continue with a warning in the match against RCB, Ponting was seen smiling.
Ricky Ponting had backed R Ashwin when he asked if the Aaron Finch should also be penalized for leaving the pitch at the end of non-striker before delivering a ball.
