Yuzvendra Chahal of India is a player to watch in white-ball cricket, according to former England off-spinner and commentator Graeme Swann. But he went on to say that it is still unclear if the leg-spinner would be as successful in Test matches.
The former cricketer-turned-commentator emphasized how some contemporary cricketers, like Yuzvendra Chahal, concentrate solely on limited-overs cricket. However, he went on to say that as long as teams begin to play more aggressive cricket, Test cricket’s future would remain promising.
Swann emphasized England’s recent stellar efforts in the extended format and indicated that other teams may learn from them. While speaking to TOI, he said these things.
As he said:
Since we are unsure of his ability to be the top red-ball spinner, Yuzvendra Chahal is the best white-ball spinner. On the other hand, it demonstrates how certain cricket players have been pigeonholed inside the white-ball format. The significance of tests, in my opinion, is still highly beneficial.
“The excitement for Test matches is resurging as teams become more aggressive. The cricket England is playing is thrilling. The Indian squad and other teams across the world should adopt Brendon McCullum’s philosophy, in my opinion. It serves as a means of drawing more people in.”
For their courageous efforts in the most recent three-match Test series against New Zealand, England received praise from all angles. The team captained by Ben Stokes won all three games and won over many fans with their aggressive brand of cricket.
“I would immediately include Yuzvendra Chahal in the team if he did want to play red-ball cricket,” said the coach. (Graeme Swann)
The 43-year-old said he would definitely include Yuzvendra Chahal in the current Indian side if Chahal wanted to play Test cricket. The astute bowler, in his opinion, is currently the finest spinner in cricket.
Swann said that Chahal has performed admirably in difficult circumstances and has been able to bowl with excellent control even when there is a lot of dew.
Chahal is presently a member of India’s T20I team against Ireland. He had a big influence in the first game of the series and was named Player of the Match for his outstanding performance.
