It is no secret that Sourav Ganguly and Ravi Shastri have not been on the best of terms since Shastri publicly criticized Ganguly in 2016 for being absent at his interview for the post of head coach of the Indian team. Ganguly responded with as much vehemence.
Although Shastri was not the Indian team’s coach for some time, he regained his position soon after Anil Kumble’s resignation. But that didn’t deter either him or Ganguly from having a dig at each other, even if it has been three years since that episode took place. They do not seem to have buried their hatchet yet.
With Ganguly, however, getting ready to take over the reins of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), it has excited India’s Twitterati. No sooner did the reports of Dada’s forthcoming rise to BCCI’s topmost position became public, social media went agog with tweets about how India’s present coach would take to the news of his foe becoming his superior.
Most tweets suggested that it was curtains for Shastri. Although it seems exaggerated and far-fetched, some of the tweets seemed to tickle a funny bone of many cricket fans.
