There is finally some clarification on the status of KL Rahul joining the team for England Tour. Team India’s vice-captain, has arrived in Germany to receive thorough treatment for his groin injury. It is confirmed that he will miss the England Tour and will only be available next month in July.
With a prolonged groin issue, Rahul was ruled out of the South Africa series and the England tour. With multiple injuries, the aim now shifts to a full recovery in time for the West Indies tour in July. Rahul is anticipated to stay in Germany for around a month for therapy before returning home.
According to a source, “He needs a complete and controlled rehab to recover from the groin injury. It has been hurting him a lot for the last few months. He felt pain during IPL 2022 as well but it wasn’t that serious. Hopefully, he will recover in time for the West Indies tour.”
KL Rahul has been suffering from injuries since his international rise as he previously got Thigh Strain, Hamstring, and Wrist injuries before he suffered the Groin Injury. The list is just from last year. It is a major concern for the team. We have found our opener in KL and his absence from the team costs India a lot.
KL was named the captain of the series versus South Africa that took place in the home country. Just before the first match of the series, KL was replaced by Rishabh Pant because of his non-availability. India went on to lose 2 matches straight of the first two games.
Even after all the troubles, the opening batter is quite optimistic about his recovery and hopes of joining the team soon and for good. In an Instagram post, the cricketer posted a picture of himself and wrote “Count your blessings” as he headed for recovery to Germany.
Hope the player gets well soon and we have a permanent opening batter with Rohit Sharma ready to take on T20 World Cup 2022 which is just a few months away and preparations for which have already started.
