IPL 14 is now 7 games old. Teams are starting to feel the heat as the competition looks better than ever. On one hand, the Wankhede Stadium of Mumbai is leaking runs for a high-scoring thriller, and, on the other, M. A. Chidambaram Stadium is keeping the game tight. Six games have played two games each, except Chennai Super Kings and Punjab Kings.
Let’s have a look at the sides who can make it to the playoffs from what we have seen so far in the season
#1 Royal Challengers Bangalore
Classic ‘Ye sala cup namde’ situation again. No matter how much we try, we can never write RCB off at the start of the season, can we?. The Virat Kohli’s royal challengers Bangalore have managed to win 2 games in a row. They are currently on the top of the points table with 4 points to their apart. Kohli can finally take a sigh of relief as he has got some quality bowlers in the name of Harshal Patel and Mohammed Siraj on his side. RCB downed heavyweights Mumbai Indians in the first game and David Warner’s SRH in the second.
#2 Mumbai Indians
Despite losing their first game of the season, MI showed what kind of quality their squad possesses. The Rohit Sharma led side have failed to score big runs on the board but their bowlers have covered up for their average batting. MI gave a tough fight to RCB while defending a modest score of 159 in the first game. They demolished KKR by winning the second game by 10 runs while defending a small total of 153 runs. Not too long before MI’s batsmen start gathering the necessary runs from the other end.
#3 Punjab Kings
Now, we know, this is a team of uncertainty but KL Rahul’s northern boys displayed a thrilling contest in their first match. The Kings handed a total of 222 runs for RR to chase and won the game by just 5 runs. Now Punjab is known for such goof-ups but if KL Rahul tightens his belt and keeps his squad in together, the Punjab Kings have a good chance this season.
#4 Chennai Super Kings
This can be our most controversial take but we will get the bragging rights if this prediction comes true. DC swiped the floor with CSK in the opener but the Chennai-based team showed some calibre in their batting. With the return of Suresh Raina and batsmen like Faf Du Plessis and Ambati Rayudu already on their side, CSK can make it to the playoffs this season.
