In the first Vijay Hazare Trophy quarter-final, we had Punjab against Karnataka. In the second Vijay Hazare Trophy quarter-final was between high-profile Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh. Vijay Hazare Trophy 3rd quarter-final pit emerging Jammy Kashmir and Assam. In the final Vijay Hazare Trophy quarter-final, we had Tamil Nadu and Saurashtra. Let’s see what happened in each match
1st Vijay Hazare Trophy Quarter-final

Karnataka won by 4 wickets (with 4 balls remaining)
The southern team, Karnataka made the right decision to field first on winning the toss. The team asked Punjab to bat in the first innings and set a target. In return, we saw wicket falling o first ball itself. From then, there was a decent run flow. Abhishek Sharma scored 109 off 123 to take team’s total to 235. The team got all out. Anmol Malhotra (29) and Sanvir Singh (39) were the only players who had a decent innings. Rest all the batters got out on penny runs.
Vidwath Kaverappa took 4 wickets in 10 over giving just 40 runs.
The total was not a tough target for a team like Karnataka. But Punjab’s bowling made it an interesting affair. We saw a great team effort even with the bat from Karnataka. Ravikumar Samarth was the highest run-getter with 71 runs. He was followed by Shreyas Gopal who scored 42 runs. The team chased the target in the final over with 6 wickets down. Karnataka won the match by 4 wickets with 4 balls remaining.

Maharashtra won by 58 runs
It was a day to set records for Maharashtra as Ruturaj Gaikwad looked like a man from another planet. Batting first, Maharashtra opener went berserk and scored 220 off 159 balls. He even hit 7 sixes in one over to make a World record. 43 runs came in this over. He was backed well by Ankit Bawne and Azim Kazi. Both batters scored 37 runs. The team’s total was 330 for 5 at the end of 50 overs.
Kartik Tyagi was the most successful bowler for UP. He took 3 wickets giving 66 runs in 10 overs. Shiva Sanghi was the most expensive bowler with 88 runs in 9 overs. 43 of those came in 1 over.
In answer, UP was ready for a good fight and they would have achieved the target if they didn’t lose wickets at regular intervals. Apart from Aryan Juyal’s 159 runs, none of the batters could impress. UP had a good run rate but wickets failed them. The team got bundled at 272 and lost the match by 56 runs.

Assam won by 7 wickets (with 23 balls remaining)
The 3rd Quarter-final was a high-score affair. Jammu & Kashmir scored a good total of 350 runs at 7 wickets. Shubham Khajuria (120) and Henan Nazir scored (124) helped J&K reach a good total. Fazil Rashid also scored a half-century. Avinov Choudhury and Rajjakuddin Ahmed took 2 wickets each for Assam.
Assam took the chase very seriously. They did not get the best start but the middle order did all the work. Rishav Das (114) and Riyan Parag (174) helped Assam to reach 354 runs within 46.1 overs.
4th Vijay Hazare Trophy Quarter-final

Saurashtra won by 44 runs
In the final quarter-finals, Tamil Nadu won the toss and elected to field first. The decision did not right as Saurashtra scored 293 in 50 overs. Even though none of the batters scored a hundred but three batters scored half-centuries while two others scored 30+ runs. It was a team effort from the southern team.
Tamil Nadu’s top order completely failed during the chase. But the lower order did manage to take some responsibility but could not take the team to victory run. Ravi Srinivasan Sai Kishore was the highest run-getter with 74 runs. The team got bundled up at 249 in 48 overs and lost the match by 44 runs.
