I’ve also developed the fantasy of captaining a team: Bavuma
Temba Bavuma Reveals His ‘Fantasy’:
“I would like to play there. The stronger my performances, the more realistic the opportunity becomes. I’ve also developed this fantasy of captaining a team. I don’t know where that comes from. I’d like to get that experience as well. But I kinda need to get into a team before that happens!”, said the Proteas skipper Bavuma.
The team, which is being led by Bavuma, has reached Delhi in preparation for the first match, which will take place at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on June 9 (Thursday). Whilst India strives to stretch their unbeaten streak to 13 Twenty20 Internationals and set a new historical record, South Africa will be preparing to take on the T20I team rated number one in order to discharge India’s winning run. The most recent competition between these two sides was of a three-match Test series and as many ODIs, both of which were won by South Africa with corresponding scores of 2-1 and 3-0.
A significant number of players from both the South African and Indian teams participated in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022, which recently finished. During their time with the SA, the guys showed a lot of promise and impressed everyone. Kagiso Rabada, Quinton de Kock, Aiden Markram, Anrich Nortje, and Marco Jansen are just a few of the players that participated in the IPL and will be seen in the forthcoming series.
Additional players, notably Anrich Nortje and Marco Jansen, will also be present. Further Bavuma discussed his thoughts on the accomplishments of these players during the campaign.
“It’s nice to see some of our guys doing well. KG (Kagiso Rabada) is en route to being the quickest to 100 wickets. That’s something to be proud of. And Marco Jansen — how he has gone and performed. Or Aiden (Markram) And even the younger guys who have shown their ability. There is a lot of talk about Dewald Brevis. He is an exciting prospect for our cricket. And Tristan Stubbs, getting a go. It’s been nice to see those guys,” he added further.
