Along with that Women’s T20 has also seen significant growth in terms of popularity and reach among people over the years. Women’s T20 World Cup 2009 Winner

The inaugural edition of Women’s T20 World Cup was held in England. The hosts won the inaugural World Cup by defeating New Zealand in the finals by 6 wickets.

Aimee Watkins emerged as the leading run-scorer of the tournament.

Holly Colvin picked most wickets in the tournament.

England’s Claire Taylor won the Player of the Tournament award in Women’s T20 World Cup 2009.

Women’s T20 World Cup 2010

The 2nd edition of Women’s T20 World Cup was held in West Indies and New Zealand reached their second consecutive finals but again got defeated, this time Australia beat them by 3 runs. Australia lifted the trophy for the first time in 2010.

New Zealand’s Sara McGlashan scored most runs in the tournament while India’s Diana David picked most wickets in the Women’s T20 World Cup.

New Zealand’s Nicola Browne won the Player of the tournament award.

ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Winners List 2012

The 3rd edition of the tournament was hosted by Sri Lanka. Both champions of previous 2 editions England and Australia met in the finals and Australia held their nerves in the end beating England by 4 runs and winning the trophy for the 2nd time.

England’s Charlotte Edwards scored most runs in the tournament. Australia’s Julie Hunter ended up as the leading wicket taker of the tournament.

Charlotte Edwards also won the Player of the Tournament award.

2014 Women’s T20 World Cup

The 4th edition of Women’s T20 World Cup was held in Bangladesh. Another final battle between arch rivals England and Australia was won by Australia. This time Australia won by 6 wickets and lifted the trophy for third time.

Meg Lanning scored most runs in the tournament.

England’s Anya Shrubsole took most wickets in the tournament and also won the player of the series award.

ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2016

The 5th edition of the Women’s T20 World Cup was held in India for the first time. World got a new World Champion this year. West Indies won their maiden T20I World Cup by defeating Australia by 8 wickets in the nail biting final.

West Indian Stafanie Taylor ended up as the highest run scorer of the tournament and also won the player of the tournament award.

New Zealand’s Leigh Kasperek emerged as the highest wicket taker in the tournament.

ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2018 Winner

The 6th edition of the tournament was held in West Indies. England and Australia locked horns in yet another final but England failed to create history again. Australia defeated them easily and won the final game by 8 wickets securing the T20 World Cup for 4th time in the history of tournament.

Australian batter Alyssa Healy scored most runs in the tournament and also won the Player of the series award.

West Indian Deandea Dottin picked most wickets in the T20 World Cup.

ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2020

The 7th edition of Women’s T20 World Cup was held in Australia. This year India reached in their maiden T20 World Cup finals but failed to win the final game. Australia defeated India in finals by a huge margin of 85 runs and lift the trophy for 5th time.

Australian batter Beth Mooney scored most runs in the tournament and also won the Player of the series award.

Another Australia Megan Schutt picked up most wickets in the tournament.
