Pakistani Prime Minister and former captain Imran Khan believes India becoming a top team in the world after improving their basic cricket structure. Imran Khan reckons that Pakistan has been a good side but the team failed to become world-class because of the poor structure at the entry-level.
Imran Khan Trusts Pakistan Cricket To Be World Class Post- Improved Domestic Structure
“Look at India today, they are becoming one of the best teams in the world because they have improved their structure although we have more talent,” Imran said, speaking to media in Islamabad. “It takes time for a structure to function and refine talent, but I am convinced that our team will become world champions,” he added.
Imran Khan added that Pakistan will soon become the world beaters in coming two to three years as the provincial cricket structure is in place now. Imran Khan is also the patron-in-chief of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and keeps the power to nominate the chairman of the board. He said due to the hectic schedule lately he could not take time out for Cricket.
“Honestly speaking I am not able to spare time for cricket and have not even watched the matches but now that our basic cricket structure has been changed things will improve gradually,” he said.
Recently, Pakistan cricket became a topic of discussion after not a single Pakistan cricketer could make it to ICC’s Team of Decade lists for Test, ODI, and T20I. It came as a big blow to Pakistan cricket fans. However, Pakistan’s recent success over South Africa on their home soil came out as a delight for Pakistan cricket fans. Pakistan defeated South Africa in the Test series 2-0. Later, Babar Azam-led Pakistan also clinched the three-match ODI series 2-1.
Imran Khan lead his side in the 1992 ICC World Cup in Australia and he is the only Pakistani Captain to win ODI cricket world cup. He is the highly respected and looked figure in Pakistan as far as cricket is concerned. Many of the former cricketers still praise the captaincy of the Pakistani Prime Minister.
