Chahal admitted he was planning to leave the IPL:
In an interview, Chahal said – “I was planning to take a break from the IPL when I heard the news of my parents getting infected. It was difficult to focus on the game while your parents were alone at home. They tested positive on May 3, and a couple of days later, the tournament got postponed.”
Talking about his father Chahal said – “My father’s oxygen level dropped to 85-86, and we had to shift him to the hospital. He had returned home yesterday, but his results are still positive. However, the good thing is that his oxygen level is around 95-96, which is quite a sigh of relief for us. It will take him another 7-10 days to recover.”
Chahal feels India are favourites to win T20 World Cup even if its held in UAE:
After IPL 2021 was suspended all the eyes were on T20 World Cup 2021, which was scheduled to play in India during October and November. But based on the current situation ICC is planning to shift the tournament to UAE.
Speaking about the T20 World Cup, Chahal said – “I firmly believe that we are the No 1 contenders to win the T20 World Cup later this year, even if it will move to UAE. The conditions are quite similar to India, and it will be a big boost for us.”
IPL 2021 will likely resume in the window period between September 15-October 15:
After the tournament’s suspension, BCCI had thought of many plans but seems like one final plan has been chalked out by the board. IPL 2021 phase 2 is most likely to be conducted in UAE from September 15th -October 15th.
