Yuvraj Singh Donates 50 Lakh Rupees For Fight Against Covid-19

Yuvraj: We Are Stronger When We Stand United

Former star cricketer Yuvraj Singh on Sunday has vowed to donate Rs 50 lakhs to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s PM CARES Fund for fighting against the corona pandemic.

The former all-rounder who was instrumental in India winning world cup twice urged people of India to join hands in the fight against the dreadful disease which has spread to more than 3,000 people out of which around 70 have died until now.

“On this great day of solidarity, I pledge Rs. 50 Lakhs to the PMCaresFunds. Please do your bit too!” he tweeted.

He also said that he will be lighting a candle at 9 P.M. on Sunday for 9 minutes as instructed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and asked who will join him in this act.

He also tweeted,” We are stronger when we stand united. I will be lighting a candle tonight at 9 pm for 9 minutes. Are you with me?”

Many cricketers have come forward to fight against coronavirus by donating and educating people about the precautions to be taken to avoid getting infected by it.

Yuvraj Angered Indian Fans Recently By Supporting Afridi

Yuvraj Singh recently was in the middle of the Twitter storm when he supported former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi, who was helping his country to fight the corona disaster.

He wrote on his Twitter showing solidarity with Afridi,” These are testing times, it’s time to look out each other especially the ones who are lesser fortunate. Let’s do our bit, I am supporting @SAfridiOfficial & @SAFoundationN in this noble initiative of covid19.”

However Yuvraj’s comment was misunderstood by many Indians and they made negative comments on him for supporting an arch-rival team member, though Afridi thanked him for his backing.

The left-handed batsman in response to the backlash clarified on his Instagram later that he is an Indian and will always bleed blue.

He posted a note on his Instagram which read, “I really don’t understand how a message to help the most vulnerable people gets blown out of proportion! All I tried to achieve through that message was to help people in our own respective countries by providing healthcare, my intention was not to hurt anyone’s feelings. I’m an Indian and I will always bleed blue and will always stand for humanity. Jai Hind.”
