The former Indian all-rounder Yuvraj Singh wrote formally to BCCI, seeking their permission to play in professional T20 league around the world on Tuesday. He had officially made his retirement from International and first-class cricket in last week and expressed his desire to play in a foreign T20 league.
“He wrote to the board yesterday. I don’t see an issue in him getting the nod to play in overseas leagues now that he has retired from international cricket and IPL,” – BCCI
BCCI has prohibited some of the active players from taking part in the overseas T20 league so this was one of the reasons for Yuvraj’s retirement to participate in the T20 leagues around the world.
However, Virender Sehwag and Zaheer Khan, who had retired from international cricket, were allowed to be part of the T10 League in the UAE.
Yuvraj told on his retirement day that he wants to play in the foreign T20 league.
“I want to play T20 cricket. At this age, I can manage to play some kind of fun cricket. I want to go and enjoy my life. It’s been too stressful just thinking about my international career, performing and big tournaments like the IPL,” – Yuvraj Singh.
