WTC Final: “We Are Not Allowed To Meet Each Other For Three Days”- Axar Patel Reveals

Axar Patel has revealed that the squad would be subjected to a three-day quarantine before being allowed to train at the Ageas Bowl in preparation for the Ind Vs NZ WTC Final 2021 against New Zealand.

The final begins on June 18, and India has only a few days to prepare after arriving on Wednesday.

New Zealand, on the other side, is now playing England in a two-match series.

Prior to its departure, the India team was quarantined for 14 days in Mumbai and is currently undergoing another, shorter quarantine.

“We can’t meet each other for three days quarantine”- Axar Patel

“I had a good sleep…the plan is to quarantine. We have been told that we can’t meet each other for three days so we will be quarantining for that much time,” said Axar Patel in a video posted by BCCI capturing the team’s journey to England in a charter flight.

The men’s and women’s teams flew together in the same flight. The group took a two-hour bus journey to Southampton after landing in London.

So the Indian players are not allowed to meet each other for three days, strictly following the COVID-19 pandemic protocols includes social distancing.

Following the Ind Vs NZ WTC Final 2021, India will play five Tests against England, while the women will face England in a one-off Test, three ODIs, and as many T20 Internationals against the home team starting June 16.
