UP Warriorz Women vs Mumbai Indians Women Highlights

The match unfolded at the picturesque Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow, where Mumbai won the toss and made the strategic decision to bowl first, aiming to exploit the batting conditions.

Batting first, the UP Warriorz Women faced considerable challenges in establishing significant partnerships, ultimately managing to post a total of 150 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in their allocated 20 overs.

Georgia Voll emerged as the backbone of the Warriorz innings, delivering a commendable performance with the bat and top-scoring with a gritty 55 runs.

However, her innings was brought to an end by the talented Nat Sciver-Brunt, who proved to be a key player for Mumbai. Supporting Voll, Grace Harris contributed a solid 28 runs, and Deepti Sharma added a valuable 27 runs, but the team struggled to find momentum against Mumbai’s skilled bowling attack.

Amelia Kerr was the standout performer for the Mumbai bowling unit, turning in an exceptional display with the ball. She claimed five wickets for just 38 runs, delivering a decisive spell that dismantled UP’s middle and lower order. Her impressive figures included the crucial dismissals of key players such as Kiran Navgire, Vrinda Dinesh, and Chinelle Henry, limiting the Warriorz’ scoring opportunities significantly.

In response to the modest target of 151, the Mumbai Indians Women took to the crease with confidence. Hayley Matthews opened the innings and delivered a masterclass in batting, scoring an impressive 68 runs. Her aggressive batting was marked by powerful boundaries and a calculated approach, providing the Mumbai chase with the necessary momentum. Although Amelia Kerr was dismissed early for just 10 runs, the middle order remained steady and composed.

Nat Sciver-Brunt played a critical role in the innings, contributing a valuable 37 runs from 29 balls, showcasing her ability to anchor the innings when needed.

Despite a challenge from UP’s bowling attack particularly from Grace Harris, who picked up two important wickets, including that of the formidable Harmanpreet Kaur the Mumbai Indians’ batting line-up proved resilient.

Amanjot Kaur’s composed unbeaten 12 runs guided the Mumbai Indians Women to a successful finish, with the team crossing the target in the 18.3rd over, concluding their innings at 153 for 4.
