WPL 2025: RCB’s fighting spirit ends Mumbai’s table-topping hopes

Royal Challengers Bengaluru Women finished their 2025 Women’s Premier League campaign on a high note with an 11-run victory over Mumbai Indians Women in Match 20 of Women’s Premier League 2025. Let’s look at MUM-W vs RCB-W Highlights for 20th Match.

Despite already being eliminated from the playoff race, RCB put up a strong performance with both bat and ball to secure a morale-boosting win. Smriti Mandhana and Ellyse Perry starred with the bat, while Sneh Rana and Kim Garth played crucial roles with the ball to restrict Mumbai’s chase. 

Mumbai Indians Women, on the other hand, were looking to finish at the top of the table for direct qualification into the final. However, the loss meant that they ended their group-stage run in second place, forcing them to play an eliminator against Gujarat Giants Women.

RCB set a challenging total of 199/3 in their 20 overs. Skipper Smriti Mandhana led from the front with a well-crafted 53 off 36 balls, including six fours and three sixes. Ellyse Perry remained unbeaten on 49 off 38 balls, playing a stabilizing role in the middle overs.  

Richa Ghosh provided a finishing flourish with a blistering 36 off 22 deliveries, while Georgia Wareham added quick runs with an unbeaten 31 off 10 balls. 

Hayley Matthews was the pick of the bowlers for Mumbai, taking 2/37 in her four overs. 

Nat Sciver-Brunt’s 69 off 35 went in vain  

Chasing 200 for victory, Mumbai got off to a steady start but lost wickets at crucial intervals. Nat Sciver-Brunt played a heroic innings, smashing 69 off 35 balls with nine fours and two sixes, but lacked substantial support from other batters. Harmanpreet Kaur (20 off 18) and Sanjeevan Sajana (23 off 12) made brief contributions, but RCB’s disciplined bowling attack ensured Mumbai fell short at 188/9. 

Sneh Rana was the standout performer with the ball, picking up 3/26 in her four overs. Kim Garth and Ellyse Perry took two wickets each.
