BCCI Women: The Base Price For a Women’s IPL Franchise Set to be Rs 400 Crore

400Cr Base Price for Women IPL Team Franchises

Indian Premier League for Women set to begin on a high note

400Cr Base Price for Women’s IPL Team Franchises: The cricket board made this choice after considering the price of the most expensive franchise ever sold, the Mumbai Indians, which was estimated to be worth Rs. 446 crores in 2007-2008.

The BCCI has fixed the starting bid at Rs 400 crore for the auction of five franchises for the next women’s T20 league, which will begin in March 2023, USD 50m approx.

Big Expectations from the Organizers

Depending on the level of interest the auction receives after the release of the tender document, the Board anticipates that the franchise will be sold for between Rs 1000 and Rs 1500 crore, or potentially more. Nobody has yet been prepared to publicly discuss these expectations, though.

The advantage for Men’s IPL Team Owners

All investors who meet the minimal eligibility requirements of the cricket board are welcome to participate in the tender process, but the BCCI has only invited the current owners of the men’s IPL teams.

There is absolutely no assurance that, should the bids of an existing IPL franchise owner and a new investor match, the existing franchise owner will be given preference.

Men IPL Teams showing Interest in buying Women teams

Only four months are left for the Women’s IPL (WIPL) to start. And the BCCI has announced its plans. However, as per a report latest report, the BCCI will start the base price from Rs 400 crore.

This is the same base price that the BCCI had fixed for the men’s IPL franchise in 2008. Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings will have their own WIPL teams. Both teams prepared their papers as soon as BCCI announced it. Also, 5 other IPL teams have also shown interest.

Women Indian Premier League Game Structure

Over the course of the two-week competition, 22 games will be played. The WIPL will be organized as a league and playoff, with the winning team moving directly into the finals. The second and third-place teams will compete in an elimination game. The team owners ought to be chosen by December.
