Opted to bat, the Perth Scorchers were very well in the game to set a big total with 95 for 1 in 72 balls.

Sixers keep slim playoff hopes alive

The Sydney Sixers made quite a decent start with 29 for 1 in powerplay and lost their second wicket in the eighth over that put more pressure on captain Elysse Perry.  

Perry, who reclaimed the top spot in the league’s most runs list, stood tall against all odds and played a 67-run knock to set a victory platform for her team.  

However, she was out when the team still required 20 off 16 deliveries with six wickets in hand.  

The match went to the final over where the Sixers needed 12 off the final six. Amy Edgar was having the ball in her hands, while Mathilda Carmicheal was at the striker’s end.  

Carmihael took five doubles to lower the margin to 2 off the last ball. She again tried to run a couple but ended getting run-out while securing the second, that forced a super over. 

Perry hit a six and a four during the super over, as Sixers collected a total of 15 runs. Chasing 16 to win, Mikayla Hinley stuck three straight fours in the final three balls to take Scorchers to 15 that tied the match.

With this tie, Perth Scorchers, have moved up to fourth place with nine points after 9 games, while Sydney Sixers are in sixth spot with eight points after nine.
