Georgia Voll’s stunning 97* guided Sydney Thunder to a convincing seven-wicket win over Perth Scorchers in the 27
th match of the ongoing Women’s Big Bash League 2024-25 on Friday.  Let’s look at PS-W vs ST-W Highlights.

With this win, the Sydney Thunder moved to top spot on the WBBL points table, with 10 points in seven matches, while Perth Scorchers are in third position with four victories in seven.

Beth Mooney was the star of Perth Scorchers batting in what of a top-teams clash, as Mooney’s 97 guided Perth to reach 170 in 20 overs.  

Mooney, however, missed her well-deserved century by only three runs while trying to hit during the first ball of the final over the innings.  

Apart from her captain Sophie Devine hit a 33-ball 44, where others struggled.  

Taneale Peschel bagged a three-wicket haul for Sydney Thunder, while Shabnim Ismail took two.  

Georgia Voll’s 97* seals the deal for Sydney

The Thunders, in response, chased down the target in 19 overs, thanks to Georgia Voll’s 56-ball 97*.  

Coming in as opener, Voll stood tall in the run-chase and led her side to victory while hitting thirteen fours and a maximum in the process. She later received the player of the match award for her match-winning knock.  

Chamari Athapaththu was seen struggling with the bat and only managed to hit 9 off 15. Skipper Phoebe Litchfield scored 14.  

However, a solid 64-run partnership off 47 balls for the third wicket between Voll and Heather Knight kept the Thunder in the match, as at the time Knight got out after scoring 24-ball 28, the Thunders were at 136 in 16 overs.  

With 35 more required off the final four overs, Annika Leoroad’s provided full support to Voll form one end and remained not out on 9.
