IND-W vs SL-W Highlights: Sri Lanka women’s cricket team scripted history by securing their first Women’s Asia Cup title after beating India in the finals at Dambulla.
It was Sri Lanka’s sixth appearance in the finale of Women’s Asia Cup history, and they finally managed to win the prestigious title.
Despite losing early wicket, Sri Lankan batters kept their aggressive mode on from the start and chased down the target in 18.4 overs with 8 wickets in hand.
Earlier, Smriti Mandhana’s 60 and Richa Ghosh’ quick-fire 30 guided India to post 165 on board.

Opted to bat, the highest run-scorer for India, Shafali Verma, began steadily but was failed to convert it into a big knock and walked back into the pavilion after scoring 16.
Uma Chetry, who came at crease as number 3 batter, only managed to score seven, which further puts the pressure on team India.
Skipper Harmanpreet Kaur then joined Smriti, and both added 29 for the fourth wicket before Kaur left the crease after collecting 11 runs.
Jemimah Rodrigues was looking in good touch and was an unfortunate run-out that also ended her innings at 29. However, her partnership of 41 with Smriti provided India a stage to post a decent total on board.
Mandhana completed her 26th T20Is fifty when it mattered the most, as her 60 off 47 and Richa Ghosh’s 14-ball 30 played a huge role in helping India set a target of 166 for Sri Lanka.
Sri Lankan batters domination in Dambulla
Sri Lanka did not have the start they wanted, as they lost their first wicket at only seven while chasing a target of 166.
Captain Chamari Athapaththu and Harshitha Samarawickrama kept the Island team’s hopes alive by adding 87 in 62 balls before skipper Athapaththu’s brilliant 61 off 43 knock was ended by Deepti Sharma.
With 72 required of the final 48 balls, Samarawickrama and Kavisha Dilhari showed their skills of powerhitting to make their side a winner of the game and secured first trophy for Sri Lanka in Women’s Asia Cup history.
Samarawickrama scored the most runs in the game with 69 off 51. She struck six fours and two sixes. While Dilhari played a crucial knock of 16-ball 30 and remained not out during the run-chase.
