Who is the captain of RCB 2022?
Each and Every IPL 2022 franchise have announced their captains for this edition and only RCB is yet to announce their skipper. It is known that their star player Virat Kohli has stepped down as RCB captain after a disappointing IPL 2021. In recent times only one question is being asked by fans –Who is the captain of RCB 2022?
Many cricket experts have named Faf du Plessis will be the perfect choice as the new skipper of RCB for IPL 2022 – But there are few analysts who are against it.
Even former Australian cricketer, Brad Hogg feels that the former South African Skipper Faf du Plessis should be named as captain of Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL 2022. Faf was one of the important players in the CSK’s setup last year and he has also played a lot of match-winning knocks for the men in yellow.
Faf has smashed 2932 runs in 93 innings at a strike rate of 132. During the IPL 2018 Auctions he was sold to CSK for INR 1.60 crore after CSK used the right-to-match (RTM) card – However, four years later the former South Africa skipper has gone almost four times higher than the price for what CSK had bought him.
RCB Have bought Faf du Plessis for INR 7 crores in IPL Auctions 2022
Former RCB skipper Virat Kohli who has led the side for 140 IPL matches until 2021 has stepped down from the role after completion of the tournament. Faf has led Proteas in 112 matches across all the formats till 2020 and he could be the proper player to fill in the shoes as the new RCB skipper for IPL 2022.
Speaking about RCB, Brad Hogg said – “RCB is quite well set up with better all-rounders down that lower-order. It’s going to be interesting to see who captains that team. I’ll get Du Plessis to captain it,”
He has also added – “Having Faf du Plessis up the order with Kohli is a better opening partnership, more experienced. Faf is explosive and Kohli can bat through the innings and play that backend game where he can take the match away. Who they bat at No.3 will be a key question,”
In the recent IPL Mega Auctions 2022, the RCB franchise was successful in bringing back their start bowler Harshal Patel for a whopping sum of INR 10.75 crores. They have also bought Josh Hazlewood, Wanindu Hasaranga, David Willey, Dinesh Karthik, Siddharth Kaul for the IPL 2022 season.
