Cricket West Indies announced a 16-member squad for the upcoming T20 series against India and New Zealand.
The cricket board announced the same team for both the big series, with their 5-match series against the World No.1 India will start from Friday, July 29. While they play the 3-match T20 series against New Zealand from August 10 to 14.
The hosts will look to make the most out of this series as they prepare for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2022. While both India and New Zealand will also try to fine tune their team combinations ahead of the big tournament.
First match of the series between India and New Zealand will be played at Brain Lara Stadium in Trinidad on July 29. The second and third will be held at Warner Park in St Kitts on August 01 and 02, respectively. While the fourth and fifth T20I will take place at Central Broward Regional Park Stadium in Florida.
Destructive batter Shimron Hetmyer, who had an impressive campaign in IPL 2022 while playing for the Rajasthan Royals where he scored 314 runs in 15 games at a strike rate of 153.92, has earned a recall to the T20I side.
Chief selector Desmon Haynes welcomed back the destructive batter and said that his return will strengthen the middle order. “We welcome back Hetmyer and it is good to see him again in West Indies colors. He will fortify the batting group and with his experience and adaptability, we have a ‘finisher’ who can add value and win matches for the team and delight the supporters.” said Haynes in a press statement by CWI.
All the three T20Is against New Zealand will be played at the Sabina Park, Kingston in Jamaica from August 10 to 14.
