England captain Joe Root has only one word for his teammates ahead of the 4th Test versus India, which begins on September 2. In the Leeds Test, the home team dominated the opposition and won by an innings and 76 runs. Chris Silverwood, England’s head coach, has already suggested the idea of relaxing their star paceman James Anderson for the Oval Test. Besides that, there will be one compulsory substitution, as Jos Buttler, the wicketkeeper-batsman, will be absent from the team to attend the birth of his 2nd child. Chris Woakes, the all-rounder, has been declared fit, which suggests England might make a few modifications for the 4th Test.

However, England’s main concern will be how to control the pressure of their bowlers. Anderson has taken up an additional workload with Sam Curran struggling and Stuart Broad missing out. Root discussed this and believes it is a difficult topic.
“Trying to manage workloads alongside performance is something in the current climate, with the games coming thick, that is always going to be tricky,” said Root.
“You come off a win like last week and there’s continuity of confidence and trying to replicate a similar performance, but you’re trying to balance that make sure you don’t blow someone out and injure someone.”
