Washington Sundar’s Father Slams Indian Tailenders After His Son Narrowly Misses Out Another Test Hundred

India beats England in the fourth Test to qualify for World Test Championship final and grab the series. R Ashwin and Axar Patel were again the threat from the bowling end and they ended up picking 17 out of 20 wickets in the match. Rishabh Pant batted fearlessly and scored a well-deserved 100 but Washington Sundar’s had been left stranded at 96* on day three of the fourth test as the hosts were bundled out, losing their last three wickets in a quick span of five balls.

We all knew a certain someone was not going to be very pleased. We are talking about W Sundar’s Father who has expressed his abject disappointment at the way things turned out for his son.

Washington Sundar’s Father Asserted How The Tail-Enders Fell Short Of Expectations

Sundar’s Father has conveyed his disappointment on multiple occasions. “What I am really disappointed about are the tailenders. They couldn’t stay on for even a brief while. Suppose India were playing, needing 10 runs to win, wouldn’t this have been a huge mistake. There are millions of youngsters watching; they shouldn’t learn what the tail-enders did. It is not about technique or skills. It was a matter of courage. England were tired; Stokes was bowling at 123-126. They were not bowling at lethal pace,” Mr M Sundar said.

Earlier in the series, Washington had missed out on a hundred in the first Test at Chennai. While he was on 85*, Jasprit Bumrah, the last batsman, had got out to James Anderson.

“It is not about technique or skills. It was a matter of courage. England were tired, Stokes was bowling at 123-126. They were not bowling at lethal pace.”

Earlier this year in January, Sundar scored 62 in his maiden Test innings at Brisbane in the Test against Australia, and his father stated that Sundar should have been more aggressive once the wickets started tumbling.

“I am disappointed he did not get a 100. When Siraj came, he should have hit fours and sixes. He is capable of that. He should have gone for sixes. He could have gone for pulls and big hits. Perhaps, he thought of trying to come close to Australia’s total, as the deficit was very less,” Mr M Sundar had told IANS.

Well, Sundar’s Father needs to wait a little more time for his son’s century now.
India will be playing 5 T20s and 3 ODIs in total against England and Washington Sundar will surely be seen in action for the T20s.
