Indian Captain Virat Kohli has been the top batsmen in the World who has broken out multiple records across all three formats of the cricket. Former Indian opener Virender Sehwag admired the current captain of the Indian team as the best batsmen.
Sehwag feels Virat may be able to break most records belonging to Sachin Tendulkar but cannot break his test records. Sachin Tendulkar is recorded as the man with most Test matches played, who has 200 Tests under his belt.
Virat Kohli has played 77 Tests for India, scoring 6,613 runs with 25 tons. He has amassed 11520 runs in his ODI career at an impressive average of 60.31.
“At the moment, Virat (Kohli) is the best batsman. The way he is scoring centuries, the way he is scoring runs, he is the best. I am sure he will break most of Sachin Tendulkar’s records,” – Virender Sehwag said.
“The one record no one can break is his (Sachin) 200 Test matches record. I don’t think anyone can break his record of playing 200 Test matches. I don’t think anybody can play more than 200 Test matches,” – Sehwag added.
Despite hitting five half-centuries in the recently-concluded World Cup 2019, Virat Kohli failed to reach till the finals. With his 43rd century, Virat Kohli moved closer to Sachin Tendulkar’s record of 49 ODI hundreds. Virat may surpass the batting legend if he adds up seven more ODI centuries to his record.
Virat Kohli already has 25 centuries in his 78 Tests and Sachin Tendulkar’s Test career ended with 51 centuries in 200 matches.
In the West Indies tour, Virat Kohli failed to smash in the first innings of the opening Test in Antigua and was dismissed for nine by Shannon Gabriel.
