Virat Kohli Ends Year On Top

Virat Kohli dominated all the batsman in the worldwide standing at the top spot in the ICC rankings and Pakistan batsman Babar Azam reached his best-ever ranking at six as per cricket body’s latest update.

India’s batsman and captain Virat Kohli continues to be at the top in the latest ICC Test rankings for batsmen, which were released on Tuesday.

Kohli reclaimed the top spot from Steve Smith in December first week with 928 rating points and ranks 17 points higher than Steve Smith of Australia. Kane Williamson, the New Zealand captain, took the third spot.

Ajinkya Rahane makes way for Babar Azam in top six

Cheteshwar Pujara (791) is at the fourth place followed by Marnus Labuschagne (786) from Australia.

Babar moved up 3 places to take the sixth spot after recently scoring two centuries against Sri Lanka. 

Ajinkya Rahane(759), David Warner(755), and Joe Root (752) climbed down one spot, respectively. Also included in the top-10 list is the New Zealand batsman Ross Taylor (714).

The Bowlers Ranking

In the bowling charts, Pat Cummins, Australian vice-captain, still heads it with rating points of 898. He is followed by Kagiso Rabada (839), Neil Wagner (834), Jason Holder (830), and Mitchell (806) in the top five. Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah (794), who last played in a Test match in August, is placed sixth.

Kohli and his limited-overs vice-captain Rohit Sharma will are toppers in batsmen rankings in 2019 at numbers one and two, respectively. In the last series, they have maintained their places following a stunning display against West Indies.

Other batsmen from India, Shreyas Iyer, and Lokesh Rahul, have also increased their rankings. Rahul, with 185 runs in the series, has jumped to 17th place from the 71st. He is the only man who hit three centuries in the ODI series. Iyer’s aggregate of 130 runs ensured that he moved to 81st from 104th. 

Shai Hope, the West Indies opener, has also moved into the top 10 after his splendid display in the three ODIs against India. The batsman, who also keeps wickets, jumped five spots to reach the 9th position in the top ranking list of batsmen.
