The rumors about the rift between the two senior players, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, kept spreading around the social media. It was since India lost the World Cup tournaments, there was widespread news on Men in Blue circulating in the social media where this was one among them.

The rumor states that Rohit Sharma wasn’t impressed with the Virat’s Captaincy. Thus, arose to talk of changing the captain.

Rohit Sharma, Vice-Captain of India, has smashed five centuries in a single edition of ODI World Cup 2019. The IPL team, Mumbai Indians, won the championship for four times under his captaincy.

Rohit Sharma was the interim skipper last year when Virat decided to rest. India won the Nidahas Trophy with Rohit’s lead. Moreover, he was successful in the Asia Cup as well and won the trophy.

Just before India departed to the West Indies for the full-fledged series, Virat spoke to the media about the widespread rumor. Virat said the team wouldn’t have performed that well if there was no trust and understanding in the team. He also said that he has praised Rohit whenever he batted well and stated the rift as ridiculous.

“We wouldn’t have had the kind of performances we’ve had if the dressing room atmosphere wasn’t a good one. It is only possible due to the camaraderie, trust, and understanding in our team. If I don’t like a person, you’ll see it on my face. I have always praised Rohit whenever I feel he bats well. I don’t know who is benefitting with all these stories. It’s baffling and ridiculous to read such stuff,” – Virat said.
