Virat Kohli Leads The Top Trending Sports Personalities List

Team India skipper Virat Kohli has achieved many milestones in his cricketing career in 2019. He led his team to achieve a record of 12th consecutive Test series wins at home, with victories against South Africa and Bangladesh. Virat Kohli also equaled Ricky Ponting’s record of 41 international centuries as captain, following his magnificent century in the 2nd Test match against Bangladesh team during last month. After scoring a ton in India’s first-ever pink-ball Test, Kohli overtook Steve Smith to regain the top position in the latest ICC Test batsmans’ rankings.

Virat Kohli In The List Of Top Trending Sports Personality:

As the year comes to an end, Kohli grabbed another feather to his list of achievements. As per a release from Google, the Indian Captain has topped the list of “Top-Trending Sports Personalities” in 2019 in India.

The 31-year-old skipper surpassed the former India captain MS Dhoni and vice-captain Rohit Sharma to become the top batsman in the list. Hardik Pandya and Yuvraj Singh, who took retirement during the June of this year are placed in fourth and fifth place, respectively. Indian Badminton Player PV Sindhu, who won the World Championship this year, is the only non-cricketer sportsperson in the list who has been placed in the 8th position.

As of now, Virat Kohli is just six runs away from completing his 1000 T20I runs at home, and he could achieve his milestone when India take on West Indies in the 3rd T20I on Wednesday. If he does it, he can become the first Indian cricketer to achieve this milestone. New Zealand player Martin Guptill (1430) and Colin Munro (1000) are the only two batsmen in the world to have achieved this milestone to date.

Kohli reached his highest T20I score of 94* in the first T20I match to help his team chase down the total score of 208. But an eight-wicket defeat in the 2nd T20I has made the series level. In the decider match, which will be held on Wednesday at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, the Indian team captain will be hoping for an improvement in all the three departments – batting, bowling, and fielding, so that his team can win the series in style.
