Virat Kohli’s dream of winning the third World Cup to India didn’t come true. They couldn’t make out in the semi-finals as the three top-order batsmen were out of the field by just making 5 runs.
In spite of this tough situation, Ravindra Jadeja and MS Dhoni tried hard to chase the score of 242 against New Zealand. They made a very close score but couldn’t beat New Zealand in semi-finals.
After the match, Virat Kohli said that 40 minutes of bad cricket put them out of the tournaments. Till then India was the top team in the tournaments and lost only one game.
Once the tournament was over, there was headline news on Kohli’s captaincy. There were also thoughts that the Indian captaincy may split in the limited-overs and long formats hereafter Rohit Sharma taking charge of colored cricket.
It was also reported that Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah would be rested for T20 and ODI series.
However, all these news have come to an end as Kohli was confirmed to travel for the limited-over series as well. Kohli is set to travel to West Indies for the full tour which includes 3 T20’s, 3 ODI’s and 3 test matches from August 3 to September 3.
According to the reports, Kohli has informed the selectors that he will travel to the West Indies in the shorter formats as well. This will be the second time India will be touring to West Indies under the captaincy of Virat Kohli after 2016. Kohli had led India in four test series while India played under MS Dhoni in two T20 series.
Virat has been playing non-stop since Australia toured India in February- March. Before that, he was rested for the final two ODI’s and the T20 series where India went for three T20Is, four Tests and three ODIs. After the Australia series, He went for playing Indian Premier League before coming to World Cup. He made 442 runs and couldn’t make a single hundred in the tournaments.
