Twitterati: PBKS Beats KKR To Keep Playoff Hopes Alive

Amazing! Punjab Kings have demonstrated a commitment to carry the match to the final over and then throw in a final twist. When everything often goes down to the last minute. While Aiden Markram & KL Rahul batted, the match seemed to have no business going through into the last over, however, the Kings absolutely threw it away once more in the last over, so PBKS Beats KKR.

However, Shahrukh Khan and Rahul were a little unlucky in the last minutes, while also playing superb strokes in the final few overs to hold Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at bay and finally remain alive in IPL 2021.

Previously, Venkatesh Iyer was the hero with the bat for KKR once more and that’s a respectable knock from Iyer.  Despite dropping Shubman Gill quickly in the session, who was bowled by Arshdeep Singh in the 2nd over, Iyer executed safe strokes to partner up with Rahul Tripathi. KKR’s number 3 was once again brilliant with shot selection, however, Ravi Bishnoi ended his 34-run spell in the midst of the 12th over.

Venkatesh Iyer has experienced head on his standards

Venkatesh restored his vision after that and had also surpassed the 50 mark. It’s not very often to have a batsman carry on playing safe strokes after reaching 50. However, Iyer has an experienced head on his standards, as he ensured that the run rate did not drop when Tripathi’s wicket struck. He went on to score 67 runs off 49 balls before being sent out by Bishnoi in the 15th over.

KKR scored 120/3 at the stage and had a chance to win the game in the last overs holding the wickets. The Punjab Kings bowling unit, on the other hand, fought back strongly towards the latter part of the innings. Mohammed Shami thrashed the struggling Eoin Morgan. Nitish Rana appeared to sweep the match away with a 4 and a 6 from Arshdeep, but he was caught in the same over, handing over the rhythm of the game.

Also with Dinesh Karthik in the midst, KKR could only produce 16 runs in the final 14 balls. They finished at 165 runs, a total that appeared to be approaching 180 at one point during Iyer and Rana’s play.

PBKS should have made the worst start to their attack. However, Eoin Morgan missed Mayank Agarwal on the 1st delivery he confronted, which severely harmed KKR. Agarwal went on to hit 40 runs and was a master of the stroke. Varun Chakravarthy interrupted the opening partnership of 69 runs, but Agarwal and KL Rahul had handed the side with the necessary start.

Whereas Agarwal was forceful, Rahul was on the other end of the spectrum, took a secondary role. Perhaps in the middle overs, when Nicholas Pooran (12) and Aiden Markram (18) were playing their strokes, he played the very same. The PBKS captain, on the other hand, made damn sure to target the poor balls and also dragged up his 50 with a booming 6 off Tim Southee.

Only when things were looking well for Punjab, Markram’s dismissal in the 16th overthrew a twist in the game. The scenario went down to 35 runs off the four remaining overs, and Rahul got Deepak Hooda in the middle to keep him in line. Shivam Mavi had 2 overs remaining to bowl, Tim Southee had one, and Morgan had to take a chance with an over from the 5th bowler, Iyer.

Mavi dismissed Deepak Hooda in the 17th over, yet Shahrukh Khan ensured he should hammer the needed runs in the over to bring it 24 off the final 3 overs. A solid 18th overcame, bringing the total to 15 off the final 2 overs. Rahul struck the vital boundary with the first ball, but he missed the ball one, allowing Rahul Tripathi to grab a stunning low catch. The excitement began at this point.

The third umpire spent a long time reviewing the footage, and with lack of evidence and the zoomer displaying the ball striking the ground, he decided in favor of the hitter. Then came a 4 to make it 5 runs off the final over. Yet, there was still another twist: KL Rahul was hammered out at long-off, reducing the scenario to 4 deliveries.

Shahrukh Khan has been on the attack for the 3rd ball, and a powerful pull had him close caught at deep mid-wicket. But it was Rahul Tripathi who came racing to take the ball, but his speed carried him beyond the boundary and he couldn’t retain grip of the ball as it went over the limits. The Punjab Kings survived.
