India made an astonishing win against West Indies in the 2nd ODI series that was played on Sunday. Virat’s 42nd century with Shreyas Iyer’s dashing 71 made India to set a huge score of 279 runs in 50 overs. With the ball, Bhuvaneshwar Kumar bowled out four wickets and set West Indies to slowly go down with their score.
Despite the victory, Rishabh Pant batting at no. 4 failed to chase the runs and left disappointing in the middle of the match. After Rishabh’s fall, India badly needed someone to stitch a partnership with Kohli. Then after, Shreyas Iyer came out to bat at No. 5 and rotated the strike well. Kohli in partnership with Iyer made an outstanding performance in the match and has put India on a winning pedestal.
In the post-match presentation, Kohli has admitted that Shreyas Iyer had taken his pressure off with his batting skill.
“He is a very confident guy and has the right attitude. Really got the tempo going and took the pressure off me. After I got out, he got the extra runs as well,” – Kohli said.
Looking into Shreyas Iyer exceptional performance in the match, fans wanted him to bat at No. 4. They feel that he is the correct solution to the number four problem, and wanted Iyer to bat ahead of Pant.
