Three Biggest Moments in Cricket this Year 2022

Three Biggest Moments in Cricket: With 2022 set to bid adieu, it’s time to take a look back at this year that provided some great memories in the 22 yards.

The year was filled with several events, and we saw some amazing things happen around the world.

The Netherlands travelled to New Zealand for a limited-overs series, and England made a trip to Pakistan after more than one and a half decades. These were just two of many first-time experiences for several associate teams.

While England won the T20 World Cup in Australia, Sri Lanka won the Asia Cup.

Here we take a look at the three biggest cricketing moments of 2022

Sydney Thunders crumble for 15

In a Big Bash encounter in December, Sydney Thunders were bowled out for just 15 runs, creating Big Bash history. The Thunders made a mess of their 140-run target against the Adelaide Strikers, crumbling for just 15, the lowest score in the annals of T20 competitions. The Sydney club had five men dismissed without receiving a run, and their no. 10 batsman scored the lone boundary of the inning. Wes Agar took a four-for while Henry Thornton took five wickets for just three runs.

England winning the T20 World Cup

England replicated its successes from 2010 and won the T20 World Cup for the second time in Australia. In the semifinal victory over tournament favourites India, Jos Buttler brilliantly led his team. Then, in the championship match, England once again excelled and defeated Pakistan to win their second championship. Jos Buttler made 225 runs in the competition, while England all-rounder Sam Curran was named Player of the Tournament.

Sri Lanka winning the Asia Cup

This year’s Asia Cup victory for Sri Lanka will rank at the top of the list of memorable moments. The Lankans weren’t considered favourites going into the competition, and they had to compete against minnows in the qualifiers to advance to the tournament’s super four. But despite all the difficulties, the island country was able to triumph. They won against Pakistan in the final after defeating India and Pakistan in the super four. Wanindu Hasaranga selected as the tournament’s top player. Due to Sri Lanka’s extensive financial problems this year, their victory had added value. The victory provided the netizens with a breath of fresh air in the midst of the dire circumstances.

This year has been full of thrill and adventure may it be close matches and Underdogs defeating the champions. Or lowest score or the fastest double century, with the major events throughout the Year made the Cricket fans amused. For more Cricket Updates and Latest News Follow Stumps and Bails.
