The Hundred Update: Manchester Originals Beat Oval Invincibles by Six Wickets

The Hundred Update: The Hundred tournament is turning out to be full of excitement, unpredictable things are happening in this inaugural campaign of the Hundred league.

One such case where the Manchester Originals having lost their first three matches and missed out on key players like Jos Buttler, and Dre Russel nobody taught that Manchester would have zero chance of coming back but that is where unpredictable things happen, the Manchester Originals after winning the match against Oval Invincibles by six wickets are now in a five-match winning streak.

Josh Little was the hero of the match with his five-wicket haul, his calm and composed bowling performance helped the Manchester side to restrict the Oval for 143/9 in hundred balls.

Ovals after winning the toss decided to bat first and things didn’t go as planned, Rossouw and Will Jacks came to bat first and were quick enough to go back to the pavilion, wicket-keeper and skipper Sam Billings tried his best to stabilize the situation after losing three early wickets, billings showed his amazing fighting spirits by scoring a half-century before falling prey to Joshua Little for 53 runs in 33 balls with a strike rate of 160.61.

Sam Curran and Sam Billings tried to build a partnership but did not last long enough, Manchester Originals’ side was on point in the bowling department as Joshua Little with his five-wicket haul took all the limelight. Joshua Little bowled well and completely dismantled the Ovals batting line. Joshua picked up 5 wickets in 20 balls with an economy of 0.65.

In reply, the Manchester side struggled at the start as the openers Salt and Laurie Evans were sent back early and it was game on for Ovals. W Madsen stood tall and scored a superb half-century, he scored 53 runs from 39 balls giving the Manchester side much-needed confidence to win the match.

Tristan Stubbs, Turner, and P Walter with their cameo made sure that Manchester crossed the line comfortably, now with this win over Ovals, the Manchester side takes the eliminator spot in the inaugural Hundred tournament.

After winning the game Manchester skipper Laurie Evans said that “We played every game without nothing-to-lose and just tried to enjoy as much as we can. And I guess that’s brought out the best among us. This is almost the toughest game for us because we played with nothing-to-lose till today, but this game had a lot of relevance to it. The pressure was there on the boys to chase those runs down, and they stuck in.

What a turnaround it has been in the few days after losing the first three matches the Manchester side has won their fifth consecutive match ensuring the eliminator spot in the inaugural Hundred campaign.
