IND Vs SA T20I: The decider abandoned due to rain, India and South Africa share series

India and South Africa share series: India and South Africa shared honors in the five-match T20I series after the final game was called off due to rain on Sunday.

India and South Africa were on 2-2 after the four games, and the final match was necessary to decide the winner of the series but it won’t happen as rain spoiled the fun with only 3.3 overs of play possible.

The Rishabh Pant-led side came on the field to bat after a decent downpour delayed the game by 50 minutes. India then only played 3.3 overs when it started raining again. The final game did begin at 7:50 PM, however, it was abandoned after only 16 minutes of action, during which India scored 28 runs while losing two wickets.

The speedster Lungi Ngidi dismissed both Indian openers with his clever slower balls.

During the opening over, Ishan Kishan smashed a couple of sixes off Keshav Maharaj’s over but his heroics won’t last as Ngidi got rid of him in the very next over.

Gaikwad once again failed to impress and got out too early when he attempted to play a straight shot on a slower delivery and got caught on mid-on before the rain starts again to halt the series decider.

Following the washout, the Karnataka State Cricket Association said that they will reimburse 50% of the crowd’s ticket price.

Earlier, India faced defeats in the first two T20Is but they bounced back strongly in the third and fourth T20Is to level the series 2-2.

It was a challenging series for the Indian team as they were playing without their star players like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Ravindra Jadeja, and Jasprit Bumrah as they all took rest because of big upcoming series against England in England.

While KL Rahul, who was appointed as captain in the absence of Rohit Sharma, had been ruled out of the series ahead of 1st T20 and the management took the decision to make Rishabh Pant the captain for the series.

Team India will next be seen in a 2-match T20 series against Ireland starting June 26, for which Hardik Pandya is appointed as captain.
