Indian Prime Minister Narender Modi has gifted a cricket bat to Maldives president Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, which is signed by all the Indian cricket players who are currently playing world cup in England.
PM had a visit to the Maldives and he was welcomed with a grand ceremony. As a gesture, PM has gifted the signed bat to Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.
PM Modi stated on his twitter account – “connected by cricket! My friend, President @ibusolih is an ardent cricket fan, so I presented him a cricket bat that has been signed by # TeamIndia playing at the #CWC19. “
Ahmed Mahloof, Minister of youth and sports community, Maldives said – “We have received a lot of support from the Indian government in the area of youth and sports. We have had a successful meeting with BCCI and we expect that they will help us in the develop cricket here. India’s support means a lot to us. Like Afghanistan cricket board was adopted by BCCI, we have the expectation that BCCI will help us in the area of cricket. Soon we will work out on a strategic plan for sports with technical support from India” –
