After two back-to-back forgettable seasons for the Sunrisers Hyderabad side, the franchise decided to leave their skipper Kane Williamson and make a fresh start with a new captain of a new season. Let us look at Who can replace Kane Williamson as SRH captain?
Williamson, who was appointed as SRH’s full time skipper ahead of IPL 2021, was unable to lead his side to glory, even in those two years the Orange Army finished at last places of the league.

The case, however, was not the same for the SRH side before 2021, as after winning the 2016 season. They were on a roll for the next 4 years, as were one of the toughest teams to beat in IPL.
They reached playoffs in 2017, played finals in 2018, and made entries in playoffs in both the 2019 and 2020.
Point to be noted here was, Williamson was the captain of team SRH in Warner’s absence for the season and team reached the finals.

Not to mention he won the orange cap for that season after scoring 735 runs in 17 matches at an average of over 52 while maintaining a strike-rate nearly over 142.
But Captain Kane Williamson’s future was a subject of discussion for the SRH management after two consecutive debacle. And as a result they showed no interest in retaining him for the IPL 2023. Which vacated the captaincy spot in the camp.
With IPL mini-auction is round the corner, there are plenty of players. Who holds the reputation of handling the side in pressure with and SRH. At this point of time need a player of this calibre only.

Ben Stokes is a proven leader and a brilliant all-rounder. On top of that, he is having plenty of IPL experience under his belt. Which makes him the perfect choice to lead the SRH side.

Rishabh Pant is undoubtedly in the running even though he is ranked second to Pandya in the hierarchical order. The opening batter has led the Punjab Kings side in the 2022 season with mixed result.
But his record as a batter and also his captaincy skills will be a plus point. For the Sunrisers team which are looking for in a captain.
