ICC Men’s T20 World Cup is a multi-nation tournament organized by International Cricket Council. The inaugural edition of T20 World Cup was held in 2007. The venue for maiden T20 World Cup was South Africa. Since then, world has witnessed seven ICC T20 World Cup Tournaments.

T20 World Cup 2007 Winner

The inaugural T20 Men’s World Cup was held in South Africa in 2007. India won their maiden T20 World Cup by defeating their arch rival Pakistan in the finals. India just lost one game in the first T20 World Cup journey.

Australian batter Matthew Hayden ended up as the highest run scorer in the T20 World Cup 2007.

Pakistani bowler Umar Gul picked up highest number of wickets in the tournament.

Pakistani all-rounder Shahid Afridi was rewarded with the Player of the series award.

T20 World Cup 2009 Winner

2nd edition of T20 Men’s World Cup was held in England. Pakistan won their maiden T20 World Cup 2 years later after missing it in 2007 by India. Pakistan won by defeating Sri Lanka in the finals.

Sri Lankan opener Tillakaratne Dilshan ended up as the highest run scorer in the T20 World Cup 2009.

T20 World Cup 2010 Champion 

3rd edition of T20 Men’s World Cup was held in West Indies. England won their maiden T20 World Cup by beating their arch rivals Australia in the finals. England just lost 1 game in their road to the trophy.

Sri Lankan batter Mahela Jayawardene ended up as the highest run scorer in the T20 World Cup 2010.

Australian bowler Dirk Nannes picked up maximum wickets in the tournament.

T20 Winner 2012 

4th edition of T20 Men’s World Cup was held in Sri Lanka. West Indies won their maiden T20 World Cup title in 2012. They defeated the host team Sri Lanka in the finals.

Australia all-rounder Shane Watson ended up as the highest run scorer in the T20 World Cup 2012.

Sri Lankan Ajantha Mendis picked up maximum wickets in the tournament.

Shane Watson was rewarded with the Player of the series award.

T20 Cricket World Cup 2014

The 5th edition of T20 Men’s World Cup was held in Bangladesh. India reached the finals for the second time in 7 years but was defeated by Sri Lanka in the finals this time.

Virat Kohli ended up as the highest run scorer in the T20 World Cup 2012 and also won the Player of the series award.

The 6th edition of the T20 Men’s World Cup was held in India. For the 2nd time in the history of T20 World Cup West Indies became champions by defeating England in the finals.

2021 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup

The 7th edition of T20 Men’s World Cup 2021 was held in UAE & Oman. Australia emerged as the World T20 Champions for the first time in the history of T20 World Cup. Australia defeated New Zealand in the finals.

Babar Azam ended up as the leading run-scorer of the tournament.

Sri Lankan spinner Wanindu Hasaranga picked up maximum wickets in World Cup.

David Warner won the Player of the tournament award.
