T20 World Cup Schedule Under ‘Very High Risk’: Kevin Roberts

Boss of Cricket Australia, Kevin Roberts, dropped the prospect of the Twenty20 World Cup in 2020 and said that it was “very risky” to plan October-November due to the coronavirus.
Cricket Australia “We are hoping for October-November scheduled to take place, but you would say the probability of that happening is a very high risk,” said Roberts in a video call on Friday. “In case this does not happen, In February-March, October-November next year, there are potential windows.
“Here, for many years, there have been consequences with the ICC. There is a lot of complexity for the ICC to deal with. The International Cricket Council, the global body governing the sport, makes the final decision as to whether the Oct. 18 – Nov. 15 events will go ahead.

The BCCI Will Face A $530 Million Dip In Revenue:

On Thursday, the ICC postponed the tournament decisions until the next meeting of the Board on June 10. The cricket board of India (BCCI), which will host the next tournament in 2021. BCCI is watching carefully as the Indian Premier League can open a window in case the T20 World Cup will postpone.
The lucrative franchise tournament that has supposed to begin at the end of March. The tournament has postponed indefinitely due to the coronavirus pandemic. If competition doesn’t continue, the BCCI will face a $530 million loss in revenue.
The IPL ‘s move to a slot from October to November could influence the Australian scheduled T20 series against West Indies on Oct. 4 to 9th and with India on Ocober11th to 17th, which has confirmed on Thursday.  Many Australian players have contracted with the IPL franchises.
To excuse Australia’s cricketers from international duties and to play in the IPL, CA exemptions are necessary, but Roberts refused to state whether CA would grant them. “If a decision has made on the T20 World Cup, the IPL must resolve the issue, that’s the key influencing factor there,” he said.
