The Match started after a long wait due to the rain and rain certainly made the players and the umpires wait for a long time, but the good news is that the match will be reduced from 20 overs to 9 overs.

It was a very strange decision to bat first even after seeing the conditions directly from the ground but Zimbabwe after winning the toss elected to bat first and lost a couple of wickets early on but tried to post a decent total by the end of the 9th over.

After the completion of 9 overs of the 18th match of the T20 World Cup, Zimbabwe’s total is 79. In the first innings, Zimbabwe managed to score 79 runs for the loss of 4 wickets.

In the last 4 overs, Wesley Madhevere and Milton Shumba utilized/not utilized the opportunity, conceding just 43 runs. The batting team couldn’t manage to hit more number of boundaries.

During the death overs, Zimbabwe was able to score 27 runs for the loss of zero wickets. The highest partnership of the innings was between Madhevere and Milton Shumba who contributed 60 runs to the innings.

Two wickets in an over 

Lungi Ngidi bowled the 3rd over of the game and was successful in pulling picking wickets. 8 runs and two wickets came in this over. A total of 5 runs and a wicket came off the 4thth over of the innings bowled by Wayne Parnell.

The 8th over of the innings was bowled by Kagiso Rabada who couldn’t keep things tight, conceding 17 runs. The 20th over of the innings was bowled by Anrich Nortje and it was a decent over. Zimbabwe batsmen hit one four to ensure 10 runs came off the final over.

The run rate at the end of the 9th over is 8.78. Wesley Madhevere scored the highest number of runs by hitting 1 sixes and 4 fours at a strike rate of 212.5.

South Africa’s Chase 

South Africa came on to bat and batted for three overs where they scored 51 runs, they were just 29 runs away from claiming the victory but the rain spoiled all the expectations.
