Suryakumar Yadav Overtakes Rizwan To become No.1 Batter in T20Is

No1 Batter in T20I Cricket: Indian star batter Suryakumar Yadav edged past Mohammad Rizwan to become the highest-ranked T20 batter in the world, according to the latest ICC rankings released by ICC on Wednesday.

The new run-machine for India, Suryakumar as expected performing brilliantly in the ongoing T20 World Cup, having recorded 2 half-centuries already in the first three games.

Yadav’s knock of 68 in just 40 against South Africa was very crucial. The game was where other Indian batters struggled and lost 5 wickets for 49. Kumar remained solid throughout and guided the side to a respectable score of 133 in 20 overs.

The right-handed batter is now the leading run-scorer in T20Is in 2022, with 935 runs including a ton.

Suryakumar Yadav’s performance since debut 

Yadav, who made his debut in 2021 holds the ability to smash the ball all over the park with his 360 degree playing skills. From winning the crucial games for India and now becoming the highest ranked batter in T20Is. The 32-year-old has cemented his place in the Indian side in such a quick time.

Suryakumar Yadav, who made his debut in 2021 against England, has so far been featured in 38 games for India in which he scored 1209 runs at an average of 40.30 and with a whopping strike-rate of 177.27.

In just in his second year of international career, the star batter already smashed 1 century and 9 half-centuries.

With India, playing as one of the hot favourites to win the cup. Surya is and will remain their key players in the marquee event.

Rilee Rossouw and Glenn Phillips 

Apart from Suryakumar, South Africa’s Rilee Rossouw and Glenn Phillips of New Zealand also made their place into the top ten. Rossouw, who smashed a brilliant century against Bangladesh made a huge jump of 17 points and now sitting on eighth spot. While Phillip, who also smashed a ton against Sri Lanka now sitting at seventh.

Talking about bowlers, Wanindu Hasaranga, who has been outstanding with the ball for Sri Lanka for quite some time has reduced the gap with Rashid Khan, who is the no.1 bowler currently.

The star Sri Lankan bowler Hasaranga is the most wicket-taker so far in the ongoing T20 World Cup.  He took 13 wickets in 7 games till now. And his boundary-less four-over spell in which he bagged 3 wickets against Afghanistan on Tuesday was again very crucial.

England’s Sam Curran and Anrich Nortje of South Africa also advanced to top ten.

There are still 11 days to witness the real champion of the eighth edition of the T20 World Cup. And considering the seriousness of the event, there will be more chances in the rankings in coming weeks.
