‘Even Kohli Was Aware That If I Continue To Bat, We Would Win’ – Suryakumar

Indian batsman Suryakumar Yadav recently recalled an incident from IPL 2020 in which he was sledged by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) captain Virat Kohli. Royal Challengers Bangalore batted first and scored 164/6 in the 48th match of the IPL 2020. In response, MI got off to a slow start, losing two wickets in the first eight overs. Suryakumar took the responsibility and batted brilliantly, scoring 79 runs off 43 deliveries. And Suryakuamar Said happy to be sledged by Virat Kohli in IPL 2020 Episode.

Kohli came next to Suryakumar and stared at him for a long time, most likely in an attempt to unsettle the latter, who was experimenting with the RCB bowlers. However, the strategy backfired, when MI No. 3 single-handedly led the squad to victory. Kohli and his teammates had lost the game by 5 wickets.

The batsman said he enjoyed the face-off during a recent Instagram live session with Mumbai Indians, adding that he was happy that the RCB skipper sledged him.

“It’s not just me, he goes hard at any batsman batting against him. I was happy to be sledged by Virat Kohli . It means even Kohli knew that if I bat on, we will win the match and if they got my wicket, then maybe they could slow us down and create a chance to win,” Suryakumar said.

Suryakumar also added that -“I am a cool and calm customer on the pitch, so I don’t get into these rivalries. But there was that moment in Abu Dhabi, so I guess that can go down as one”.

He went on to state that he was too focused to be bothered by anything because he was in the zone during the game and ready to finish the game for his side. Kohli, according to Suryakumar Yadav, is “electrifying” on the field and “goes hard at every batsman up against him.”

Suryakumar was not included in the Indian squad for the Australian tour when this incident happened. Suryakumar was eventually called up for the limited-overs series against England earlier this year after months of waiting. He made his T20I debut in the fourth match and scored a half-century in his first innings 57 off 31 balls.
