‘Suddenly, I Got Dropped’, Rahane Discusses His Tough Situations

Ajinkya Rahane, an experienced Indian batsman, has had a difficult year as runs have stopped flowing for him. In 2021, the 33-year-old amassed 479 runs in 13 Tests at an unsatisfactory average of 20.83. As an outcome, he was removed as India’s vice-captain in the longest version of the game. His stance in the team has also been questioned. In this article, we have discussed the Tough Situations Of Rahane.

Tough Situations Of Rahane

Rahane performed 2 Tests in South Africa in 2022 and failed to make an impression. In 4 innings, he produced 68 runs, including a half-century. Rahane said that his batting has worsened as a result of a lack of playing time in the most basic style. Several domestic events in India have been abandoned after the COVID-19 was exposed.

Confidence comes with game time and scoring runs in matches: Rahane

Rahane hasn’t had much match practice because he hasn’t been around the ODI or T20I teams. He feels that this criterion should be considered while analyzing his performances.

“Sometimes, the reality is, when you play only one format and especially in the last 2-3 years where there is no Ranji cricket and no other domestic games, I think that needs to be taken into account because you can’t score runs sitting at home,” Rahane said.

“No matter how much you practice or have ner sessions, the confidence will not be gained with that. Confidence comes with game time and scoring runs in matches,” he added.

On February 17, the First-Class competition will begin. However, Rahane stated that he has been “suddenly” removed from the ODI squad in 2018 despite performing well in the format.

“Before that, I was playing ODI cricket continuously for Team India and I was doing really well. Suddenly, I got dropped, I don’t want to go into that, I don’t want to go into my past but the reality is I was playing well in 2014, 15, 16, and 17. ODI and Test cricket both were going really well. After that I hardly got game time, there was a huge gap between Test matches,” Rahane concluded.
