On 13th July 2010 Steve Smith played his 1st Test match:

On 13 July 2010, Australian terrific batsman Steve Smith introduced in the longest format of cricket. He played his debut Test match at the Lord’s Cricket Ground on the opposition of Pakistan.

On this day, Australian captain Ricky Ponting gave the ‘Baggy Green’ cap to Smith. During that time, he used to be a spinner who could bat a little bit also.

In his debut match, he couldn’t perform well and managed to make only 13 runs in both the innings combine.

In the bowling department also, he was able to take only three wickets in the second innings.

In 2010 only, Smith played his 1st ODI as well as the T20I match. However, with time he proved his expertise and cemented his position in the team as one of the best batsmen in the cricketing world.

Now, the 31-years old Smith is considered as the leading ICC Test batsman with 911 points, which is followed by Indian captain Virat Kohli with 886 points.

The right-handed batsman was last seen in the first ODI match against the team of New Zealand in the three-match series.

After the first ODI match, the series between Australia and New Zealand was postponed because of the outbreak of the coronavirus.

In the Indian Premier League, which was previously scheduled to be held from 29th March, this year was postponed to uncertain duration due to COVID-19 pandemic, Smith would have been leading the Rajasthan Royals team.
