Sri Lanka Women’s Asia Cup Squad

Chamari Athapaththu one of Sri Lanka’s most prolific batters will lead Sri Lanka women’s team in the T20 Asia Cup.

The Sri Lanka Cricket Selection Committee picked a 15-person squad on Tuesday. The team will be competing in the women’s T20 Asia Cup 2022, which will occur in Bangladesh from October 1–16.

The eighth edition of the seven-team Women’s T20I Asia Cup will take place in 2022. Aside from Sri Lanka and host Bangladesh, the other teams competing are India, Malaysia, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and the United Arab Emirates.

Bangladesh will face Thailand on the first day of the tournament, followed by India and Sri Lanka. On October 11, the league stage will come to a close, the semifinals will occur on October 13, and the championship game will take place on October 15.

Jay Shah president of the Asian Cricket Council stated saying “For the first time in the history, seven women’s teams will be participating in a complete round robin format which we anticipate will be a great boost to the ACC associate teams. The tournament will be conducted in line with ACC’s vision for Women’s cricket and we are very pleased to note that the .

He further added saying “The ACC with this vision in mind is constantly striving towards being more inclusive. The 2022 edition of the women’s Asia Cup will therefore see more embedded female participation. For the first time ever, an ACC tournament will see an all-female presence on the playing field. This will be with the women’s tournament being slated to have only female umpires and female match referees.”

Chamari Athapaththu – (C), Hasini Perera, Harshitha Samarawickrama, Kaveesha Dilhari, Nilakshi de Silva, Anushka Sanjeevani (WK), Kaushini Nuthyanga, Oshadhi Ranasinghe, Malsha Shehani, Madushika Meththananda, Inoka Ranaweera, Rashmi Silva, Sugandika Kumari, Achini Kulasooriy, Tharika Sewwandi.
