Olivier ruled out for the Test series against England

South Africa’s right-arm fast bowler Duanne Olivier has been ruled out for the upcoming three-match test series against England. Olivier got injured during the four-day tour match against England Lions at the Spitfire Ground in Canterbury.

Olivier suffered a significant discomfort involving his right hip flexor muscle at the four-day tour match. It is believed that he suffered a grade 2 tear of his right pectineus muscle.

The breaking news was released by Cricket South Africa on their social media Twitter handle.

The board has not announced any replacement for Olivier. It is a little serious injury and that’s why the board has decided to send Olivier back home and start his rehabilitation and come back to hundred percent fitness.

Missing a fast pacer just before an important series will be a huge blow for South Africa as there are even concerns regarding the fitness of Kagiso Rabada who is working hard to come back from his ankle injury.

The only other pacers that the South Africa team could rely on would be Lungi Ngidi, Anrich Nortje, Marco Jansen, Lutho Sipamla, and Glenton Stuurman. Some of them played their last test match in 2021.

So there is a real concern regarding the pace attack for the series against England.

Olivier made his debut for the South African-A squad that traveled to Zimbabwe and Australia and was a leading pacer for the Australia tour.

Olivier is a fast seamer who is very good at bowling in the test format especially, he has played 15 matches in the test so far and has managed to pick up 59 wickets with an average of 21.93 and an economy of 3.71
