Sophie Devine Set’s The Women’s Big Bash League On Fire

In the 27th match of ongoing Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) between Adelaide Strikers and Melbourne Stars, New Zealand all-rounder Sophie Devine on Sunday hammered five sixes in the first innings for Adelaide Strikers at Adelaide.

Her aggression took her score from 55 to 51 balls to 85* from 56 balls, in the end, helping Strikers clinch a 17-run victory. Eighteen-year-old youngster Madeline Penna was at the receiving end as her figures of 3-17 from the first three overs were wrecked.

When Devine took on Penna in the ending over, Devine dragged the second ball of the over which was a full toss over deep mid-wicket for a six. The third ball went for a six over the long-off.

She pulled the fourth ball over the deep mid-wicket for another six. The next six came when Devine hit the ball to long-on. She ended her innings with another maximum over deep mid-wicket.

Devine contributed to the bowling as well as she took two wickets and conceded 19 runs to complete an all-round performance.
