India found themselves in unknown territory in the 2nd ODI chasing 276. Their top order and middle order barring Suryakumar Yadav and Manish Pandey to a certain extent came up croppers. Krunal Pandya fought all he could but was dismissed in the most inopportune time. India were staring down at a defeat when Deepak Chahar and Bhuvneshwar Kumar joined forces. The duo weathered bowling changes, discipline, and intensity. They almost exhausted the Lankan team before pouncing on them with their calculated attack. Their 3-wicket win comes as a huge morale booster for this young bunch who have unfairly been termed the ‘B’ team.
If the first game was all about dazzle and sparkle, India showed grit and gumption in the 2nd game. Their win is a one for the ages where two bowlers showed remarkable maturity to pull off a stunning win. India will be high on confidence going into the 3rd ODI. The prospect of them being able to complete a consecutive clean series sweep over Sri Lanka in their den won’t be lost on them. Their juggernaut will be difficult to halt.
