Sri Lanka defeated the host side Bangladesh by 10 wickets in the second test of the 2-match series at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka on Friday.

After a brilliant show with the bat on the other day, Sri Lankan bowlers did an equally good job and bowled out the host team at just 169 runs to hand their batters a 28-run target to chase on the final day, which they achieved without losing any wicket.

Earlier, Bangladesh after winning the toss and opted to bat first, posted 365 on board, courtesy of brilliant innings from the former captain Mushfiqur Rahim and the wicket-keeper batter Litton Das.

In reply, the Sri Lankan team put a monstrous 500 plus and grabbed a 141-run lead over Bangladesh. The star of their innings was the ex-skipper Angelo Mathews, who played an unbeaten 142-run knock and another former leader Dinesh Chandimal who did a 124-run contribution to his team’s total.

The only positive for Bangladesh in Sri Lanka’s innings was the veteran Shakib bagged a 5-wicket haul for the 19th time in his Test career.

Bangladesh witnessed a disastrous start in the second innings when they lost 4 early wickets at just 34 runs before the stumps on day four.

On day five, they were required to break the 141 lead first and then score as many runs as possible to draw the game or score quick runs and invite Sri Lanka to bat with at least 150-run target in 20 overs.

That didn’t happened as Litton Das 52 and Shakib’s 58 all other Bangladeshi batters were seen clueless and the team only managed to post 169 runs in second innings.

Sri Lanka openers ended the game in T20 style, as they scored 29 runs in just 3 overs to hand their team a victory in second test.

With this electrifying victory, Sri Lanka clinched the series by 1-0.

Player of the match was awarded to Sri Lanka’s Asitha Fernando for taking 4 wickets in the first and 6 wickets in second innings. While the veteran Angelo Mathews was honoured by the man of the series award.
