Furthermore, India batsman Ishan Kishan has been purchased by the Mumbai Indians on Day 1 of the auction with a whopping price of 15.25 crore. Kishan became the most valuable purchase in the current IPL auction after being acquired by the five-time champs.  Ishan Kishan, who made his IPL debut with the Gujarat Lions in 2016, was acquired by the Mumbai Indians before the 2018 edition.

He was instrumental in Mumbai’s back-to-back championship triumphs in 2019 & 2020. He was indeed the team’s leading scorer in the IPL 2020, with 516 runs from 14 games. Kishan surpassed Shreyas Iyer as the most costly buy in the IPL 2022 sale here so far.

Shreyas was previously purchased by the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) for a whopping price 12.25 crore. Ishan Kishan was indeed MI’s first purchase of the current event. He also became the 2nd-most costly Indian cricketer in IPL era, and the 4th-most expensive in total.

Ishan produced 1,133 runs in 45 games for MI throughout 4 seasons. MI had 4 players under retention prior to the auction. They kept Rohit Sharma for 16 crore, Jasprit Bumrah INR 12 crore, prolific batsman Suryakumar Yadav for 8 crore, and legendary all-rounder Kieron Pollard for 6 crore.
