Shoaib Akhtar’s biopic, “Rawalpindi Express,” would be the “First Foreign Film About a Pakistani Sportsman.”

The premiere date of legendary Pakistani sprinter Shoaib Akhtar’s biopic, titled “Rawalpindi Express Running against the odds,” has been confirmed. The upcoming movie, The Shoaib Akhtar biopic will have its theatrical debut on November 16, 2023.

Akhtar is regarded as one of cricket’s all-time greatest fast bowlers. He had a devastating speed, toe-crushing Yorkers, and a deadly reverse swing that even the best batters in the world were unable to predict.

The seasoned cricketer tweeted the first image from his biography and said that it was the first international film to include a Pakistani athlete. He has emphasized in the caption of his book, “Controversially Yours,” in which he discussed several situations during his fourteen-year career.

Akhtar also held a “Question and Answer” session with his followers on the upcoming film, inviting them to tweet their responses using the hashtag #RawalpindiExpressTheFilm.

Filmmaker Muhammad Faraz Qaiser is in charge of the project. Akhtar’s figure may be seen scurrying across a railroad track in the first shot, denoting his titular “Rawalpindi express.”

The record for the fastest ball bowled in international cricket is currently held by Akhtar. The feat was accomplished in the 2003 World Cup match versus England, with a speed of 161.3 kmph (100.2mph).

Although Akhtar is the first athlete from Pakistan to have a commercial film about his life made about him, there have been other cricketers who have had their lives portrayed in films before him. Biopics have previously been produced on cricket greats like MS Dhoni, Mithali Raj, Mohammed Azharuddin, and Sachin Tendulkar to share their tales with their fans.

Akhtar achieved a lot on the cricket field, but his career was dogged by controversy. For the talented bowler, who seems to have spent his whole life dealing with scandal, a short fuse and a bad attitude have caused a lot of issues. When his biography opens in theatres the following year, it will be interesting to watch how audiences respond.
